Hello to you.

It’s been a while since we were in touch. I hope you’re well and in fine fettle. Life is easier when you’re feeling good – with no aches or pains or physical complaints or pathologies. It’s a crap shoot, really; some have issues, others do not. We all succumb, some early, but, eventually everyone. How do you account for adverse change of circumstances? Genetics, good living, dumb luck – all three? I’m pretty sure it’s happenstance.

It’s just a matter of time, soon or late, for the curtain to rise on calamity of one kind or another. So, if you’re in good form now, enjoy it. Health is like water in the desert, a scarce and precious vessel not given much thought until its container leaks. Ultimately, there is no oasis or sanctuary; it’s all a mirage. Still, we walk in hope, if not desperation, towards renewal. Walk on with vigour.

Okay, several of the regulars are away or not available this weekend. Also, on Sunday, there are two events to choose from. A couple of us are riding the TDB, while others have chosen the MEC ride from Carp. And, some will ride from Stinsons on Sunday. So, there are lots of options. I hope one of these suits you.

Upcoming Events:

Okay, here’s the plan for Saturday, August 18:

  1. Stinsons at 7:30 am start for a route and distance to be determined by those present.
  2. Gatineau at 7 am start from P3. Three loops, 95 kms, 1600 metres. This involves climbing King twice and FP once, and returning on the third circuit via Kingsmere, Swamp, Barnes, and Mackenzie King to the Champlain Parkway, including two visits to Belvedere on Lap 1 and 3.

Ask yourself, where else would you rather be when the alarm rings on Saturday morning than on your bicycle pedalling away the fatty bits? You know you’ll just want to be there.
