May 26/18: 168 Kms; 762 Metres; 5 Hrs, 20; Nine Riders

Wow, did we dodge a bullet this morning. Rain to start, spits really, that’s all. And, the wind, well it was a head and cross wind for the outward leg but strength in numbers allowed for a good pace. Mind you, it’s hard to have much of a conversation with your cycle mate when the wind is assaulting your ear, like a squalling babe begging for attention. Most distracting. But, sometimes just the mere presence of another human offers solace though no words pass between – alone as we are in this unfeeling universe. Curious the dynamic of interpersonal relations. We are lucky to share such communal spirit and joy. Not all are fortunate to find like-minded souls for a few intense hours each week. Thank you for being part of my week.

As  for the return trip, well it was a breeze, at pace, and with effort. We held nothing back – leaving us all relieved to finally swing into Stinsons, and so end the ride. Mind you, the after cycle debrief is not to be missed. You know, you really just should have been there.

Sunday, Meet at Stinsons on White Lake Rd for 7:30 am 7:30 7.30 am start and ride to Carp to have coffee with Alice. You know, you’ll just want to be there. Route is via Dwyer Hill, Cnty Rd 20, Blakeney, Almonte, #49, Burnt Lands, Vaughn, Donald B Munro to Carp (km 59); home via Cnty Rd 5, Thomad Dolan, Stonecrest, #20, #5, Galetta Side Rd, Olh Hwy 17 for a total distance of 102 kms; 471 Metres.

Caveat: Route is tentative and is depends upon rider consensus, the turnout, and the weather.

For those with time constraints, there are many options to cut it short. Don’t miss out, just because the route is longer than you have time for. Weather:  13C – 24 C; mix of sun & cloud; winds E 18.
