Oct 01/17: 96 Kms; 3 Hrs 07; 519 Metres; Eight Riders

Hello to you all.

Brr! That was a cold start (.05C) to Sunday’s ride. We had cold feet and cold hands for 45 kilometres before the sun climbed high enough in the sky to penetrate the air with its warmth. That, and the eventual climb up Pinnacle Hill, had us panting and sweating in equal measure. Yes, it took time for the joy of the ride to rise from the depths of the morning’s cold; but like a blue whale surfacing, it was glorious. We luxuriated in the heat pouring down from the heavens, as we rode towards the Garden of Eden road. It was so welcome that we delayed our usual sprint to Bruce Street, choosing instead to savour the rhythm of the undulation beneath us. And, so, we followed the gradient down and down until it finally rose with a few hundred metres to go to the corner. And, thus began the sprint that took us eventually to Tim’s on O’Brien, eight kilometres away, where we stopped for a well-earned coffee and biscuit. Yes, you know, you really just should have been there.
