June 17, 2017: 103 Kms; 3 Hrs 23; 678 Metres; Ten Riders

A big thank-you to you all for riding this morning. It was another great ride, even if the wind was everywhere at once. Yes, the prospects were a grim at the start. We suffered from road spray and rooster tails, reminding us we were not riding the heavenly roads of the afterlife, yet. That was good to know, since this life, the before life – so to speak, is nonpareil. And, for that, we are thankful – ever thankful, and mindful. Eventually, the sky lightened and the sun shone. We were in a heavenly frame of mind, full of hope, light of care, and riding with ease. You just should have been there.

Here’s the tentative plan for Sunday: (Will update post by 6:45 am Sunday if ride cancelled)

Meet at Stinsons on White Lake Rd for 7:30 am 7:30 am start and ride to Burnstown via Dwyer Hill, Galetta Sd Rd, Hwy 29, Shaw Rd, Waba Rd, Campbell Sd Rd, Beallamy, White Lake, Burnstown for coffee at the Neat (km 39.5); home via Hwy 508, Steartville, Kippen Rd, White Lake Rd, Stinsons for a total distance of 67 kms+/-.

Ride can be shortened to 45 Kms at White lake.

This route has gradual inclines for the most part, and some rollers, with the exception of the Stewartville Dam Hill. We have no training goal for Sunday (Father’s day) other than to spin the legs and get some kilometres. Plan is to keep the effort moderate. Ask yourself, “where else would you rather be?”

As usual, it’s steady as she goes, with minimal delays on the road.

Weather: 20C – 25 C, with a mix of sun and clouds, winds south 15. POP 40%.

Caveat: All this subject to change based upon the turnout and the weather and rider consensus.

The Donkey
When fishes flew and forests walked
   And figs grew upon thorn,
Some moment when the moon was blood
   Then surely I was born.
With monstrous head and sickening cry
   And ears like errant wings,
The devil’s walking parody
   On all four-footed things.
The tattered outlaw of the earth,
   Of ancient crooked will;
Starve, scourge, deride me: I am dumb,
   I keep my secret still.
Fools! For I also had my hour;
   One far fierce hour and sweet:
There was a shout about my ears,
   And palms before my feet.       G.K. Chesterton
