April 29/17: 107 Kms; 3 Hrs 41 minutes saddle time; 731 Metres; Ten Riders

No, it’s not what you think. I was at the property this afternoon clearing brush. Actually, I was in the hammock and my son was doing the clearing. Great spot the property but with lots of ups and downs. My legs were shot (like yours?) from a very hard ride this morning. Now, they’re doubly so. That ride home on Dwyer Hill was a killer but it didn’t have any effect on our two Belgian horses up front. Those guys are good.

The highlight of the morning, however, was Keith’s flirtation with the jet-stream on #148. I had a box seat to the event. Absolutely, super riding, and he wasn’t even in top gear. Thankful he was holding something back. Or, we would have all been toast. You just should have been there.

Okay, disappointing news on the weather front. Both the weather channel and environment Canada are calling for rain in the morning at 10 am for Renfrew and area. In fact, there is a special weather statement on the duration and the intensity of the rain. That coupled with the -1 C temperatures would make the ride unbearable. So, based upon the latest forecast, I’m cancelling the group ride. If you sees things differently, let me know. I’ll put you in touch with any like-minded soul. Also, if there is a dramatic change in the forecast for the better, I’ll re-post. If the rain would hold off until noon, we could ride to Carp to see Alice for coffee but that is a minimum 70 km circuit. Not likely to happen.
