Hello. Well, we’re coming to the end of these regular cycling posts. This is the next to the last for the season, most likely, unless October proves to be a gem. I can sense relief in this news for many of my readers. No more irrelevant, non-cycling related commentary to wade through before getting to the meat of the matter – as in time, venue, route. Why, it’s come to my attention that not even the route is relevant in these posts, such is the desire by the reader to know only the bare essentials of the ride.

So, here goes. Don’t miss Sat’s ride because the weather for Sunday is not looking good.

Meet at Stinsons at 7:30 am 7:30 am and ride to Kanata.

As for the ride, this route is a variation of Rob’s Ride to take advantage of the curves and rollers on Stonecrest. Overall, the climbing is minimal, limited to longer, low-grade inclines for the most part.

Here’s the Route: Ride to Kanata via Galetta, Stonecrest, Kilkenny, Ridgetop, Thomas Dolan, Sixth Line, Riddell, March Valley; home via Old Carp Road, etc., for a total distance of 101 kms. Coffee at Starbucks after 56 kilometres. As usual, it’s steady as she goes, with minimal delays on the road. Bring gels, bars, water, electrolytes, etc. Liquids will be a key element tomorrow.

NOTE the Venue and Time: Stinsons on White Lake Rd for 7:30 am departure. (Sunrise 7:04)

Temperature will be in the low teens; wind E at 15. Details here – https://www.windfinder.com/forecast/arnprior-south-renfrew-municipal-airport.

Alert 1) The Rideau Lakes Tour – June 10-11, 2017

Alert 2) Important information: These are ‘no-drop’ group rides, except for the hills where it’s every man for himself. Regroup at the top. Honest effort required by all. New cyclists welcome.

Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.   Langston Hughes
