Hello. The summer sun is low in the sky and the morning light is slow to appear from its cover of darkness. The air is cooler now, requiring us to don a gilet or a light covering for warmth. The air is fresh and the north wind has a touch of the glacier in its tongue. That’s how quickly one season slips into another.

Al this by the way of saying that tomorrow’s ride will be a cool one, with temperatures in the 10-11 C range to begin, improving to the mid teens by the end of the ride.

Here’s the tentative plan for Saturday, assuming wind is from the north-west:

Meet at Stinsons at 7:30 am 7:30 am and ride to Renfrew via Campbell Side Rd, Braeloch, River Road, Story Land, Pinnacle, Hwy 60, Butler, McNaughton, #132 to the Bonnechere cafe for coffee; home via Gillan, Lochwinnoch, etc.for a total distance of 100 kms

NOTE the Venue and Time: Stinsons on White Lake Rd 7:30 am, sharp departure.

Temperature will be in the low teens; wind NW at 10. Who wouldn’t want to ride in that?

As for the ride, it’s a gradual rise to Story Land and then downhill to hwy 60; flat thereafter – more or less. Coffee after 70 kilometres. As usual, it’s steady as she goes, with minimal delays on the road. Bring gels, bars, water, electrolytes, etc. Liquids will be a key element tomorrow.

Alert: Important information: These are ‘no-drop’ group rides. It’s steady as she goes (conversational style), except for the hills where it’s every man for himself. Regroup at the top. Honest effort required by all. New cyclists welcome.
