June 25/16: 101 Kms; 3 Hrs 21; 863 Metres; Eight Riders

Okay, this is late, so just the basic info. This is all you really want anyway.

But, first, that was a good turnout this morning. Top riding by everyone. No holds barred in places but overall it was steady as she goes. Pacing on climbs was excellent, if approaching the red-line occasionally. Pucker St for a few kilometres was a big disappointment. One can only hope that in time that new section will compact into a smooth stretch of road. All in all, you just should have been there.

Here’s the tentative plan for Sunday, assuming winds are from the south:

Meet at Stinsons at 7:30 am 7:30 am and ride to Pakenham via Pine Grove, Red Pine Bay, Braeside, McLean Drive, #508, Burnstown, White Lake, Waba, etc for coffee and sticky buns at the General Store; home via Kinburn Side Rd, Dwyer Hill for a total distance of approx 75 – 80 kms(?). We can extent this ride, if necessary by 10 kms or so. Decision to be made in Pakenham.

NOTE the Venue and Time: Stinsons 7:30 am, sharp departure.

We’ll drop the effort back a bit on Sunday, especially on the hills. To-day’s ride was hard but good.

As usual, the plan is to keep moving, with minimal delays on the road. Bring gels, bars, water, electrolytes, etc. Liquids will be a key element tomorrow. The coffee stop is at the 58 kms+-.

Temperature will be in the high 20’s/low 30’s C ; wind south at 15. Who wouldn’t want to ride in that?

Alert: Important information: These are ‘no-drop’ group rides. It’s steady as she goes (conversational style), except for the hills where it’s every man for himself. Regroup at the top. Honest effort required by all. New cyclists welcome.
