Well, hello.

We all hope for good physical health and a quiet mind in the last twenty years of life. And, while meditation is salutary, exercise both restores the body and uplifts the spirit. It roots us in a time before history, in our distant past. Refection is good – is necessary; but, movement is elemental to our species. And, when in company of others, why it’s full of sweetness. Genial riders are the pepper and salt, and spice that flavour the effort. Yes, solitary rides are good, too; but, man is gregarious and desires company, mostly. We invite you to join us on Saturday as we ride the roads of Renfrew and Lanark County.

Here’s the tentative plan for Saturday:

Meet at Stinsons at 7:30 am 7:30 am and ride to Carleton Place via 10th line, Waba Rd, Pakenham, Hwy 29, Blakeney, Almonte, Appleton, etc for coffee on the main street in CP; home via the 8th line, Clayton Side Rd, Hwy 29, etc. for a total distance of 100 kms+-. This is a great ride with lots of ups and downs but nothing too difficult. You won’t want to miss this one.

I’m designating it the ‘lazy’ 100 in recognition of last Sunday’s supreme effort. We won’t force the pace!

NB: if there is a small turnout, which usually happens after the RLCT, then the plan for the day’s ride may change. It’s MMB month in Almonte and there are several routes and many cyclists there. But, the first option for us is the ride to CP.

NOTE the Venue and Time: Stinsons 7:30 am, sharp departure.

The plan is to keep moving, with minimal delays on the road. Bring gels, bars, water, electrolytes, etc. Liquids will be a key element tomorrow.

Temperature will be in the high 20’s/low 30’s C ; wind south at 10; changing to NE. Who wouldn’t want to ride in that?

Alert: Important information: These are ‘no-drop’ group rides. It’s steady as she goes (conversational style), except for the hills where it’s every man for himself. Regroup at the top. Honest effort required by all. New cyclists welcome.

Some news from Kevin: Lower Pucker is being re-paved so we’ll stay away from it for a while.

Some news from Rob: 1. I like warm weather riding 2. My legs still work 3. The red MAFIA jersey does draw the attention of female cyclists – 3 out of 3 cyclists can’t be wrong.

I know what jersey I’m wearing on Saturday!
