May 15/16: 98 Kms; 3 Hrs 31; 1108 Metres; Eight Riders

Boy, I just enjoy so much filling in the details of that top line. What a great feeling after a hard ride to relax and enjoy the after-glow of the effort.

And, that’s what it took this morning, a full-out effort for the first 50 kms to reach the crossroads at Pucker and Whalen/Hwy34. It wasn’t all easy-peasy after that but, like a sailboat gaining benefit from the tide, we were propelled forward by a force beyond our control. A heavy cross/tail wind and the promise of coffee at Tim’s (within twenty kilometres) had us pedalling with renewed vigour.

After coffee, the second stage fired on cue. And, just like last Sunday, the next 30 kms were characterised by pro-peleton speeds down Lockwinnoch and Campbell Dr. You really should have been there! There is no feeling like it. Not to be missed.

A big thanks to EC for supremo domestic work on the Burnstown Road; also, to NS for battling the hard conditions with a sick body from start to finish; also, to everyone for just being there.

Regarding next week, the plan for Saturday is a 140 km circuit (Almonte, Middleville, Hopetown, Calabogie, Arnprior). You’ll just love hill climbing after this one!

Okay, Ride your bike! Bye bye, ac. Comments always welcome at arnpriorcycling@bell.net; https://twitter.com/ArnpriorCycling
