May 14/16: ____________________________________________

But, that’s not quite right because RT and BG rode in from Kanata for a circuit of 115 kms; RMc rode 108 kms on his own; MG headed out into the rain for 30 kms or so; others may have done the same.

Regrettably, your scribe did not ride, although he ate as if in preparation to ride. Now that’s a mistake  for anyone to do, especially if you discover, too late, that the looseness of one’s trouser belt has to do with its elasticity rather than a reduction in waist size. Deception is might and realty bites again.

Okay, what went wrong. It’s clear that weather radar is overrated. Also, I forgot to read TWN disclaimer that everyday was April Fool’s day at TWN. I’ll know next time.

Right, here’s the tentative plan for Sunday (riding rain, snow, or shine, no exception)(don’t even look at the forecast):

Meet at Stinsons at 8 am 8am and ride to White lake, Burnstown, Calabogie, Pucker St; coffee at Tim’s on O’Brien St.; home via Gillan, Lochwinnoh, etc. Yes, this is a partial reprise of what we did last week. Total distance estimated to be 100 kms but it’s hard and it’s real, with 1200+ metres of climbing. You’ll love it.

NOTE the Venue and Time. Stinsons and 8 am rain, snow, or shine!

Sunday’s ride will be tough ride. The conditions will be brutal but the ride home should delicious. There’s no rain in the forecast. Just dress for the snow.  We’ll be dry and cold but not wet. That’s no April Fools joke.

Temperatures will be in the low, single digits (with wind chill, it will be -2C); west winds at 30 kms/hr; pop 40%. Who wouldn’t want to ride in that.

Alert: Information about our ride’s (for all that participate), these are ‘no-drop’ group rides. It’s steady as she goes (conversational style), except for the hills where it’s every man for himself. Regroup at the top.

New cyclists welcome.
