Well hello and welcome to the Arnprior Cycling site, the purpose of which is to get the word out to like-minded cyclists about weekend rides from Arnprior. We’ve been doing this since 1990 and we would  love to have you join us on Saturday or Sunday or both, if you have the time and inclination. FYI, we are recreational cyclists. We don’t race or time-trial but we do ride every weekend (both days) throughout the cycling season. We are not a club. We have no membership fees. We have no constitution or by-laws. We have one rule – Two Minutes. That’s it. We just ride.

Well, this is the time of year to take every opportunity to ride because we just never know when it will end abruptly. No matter how far into the Fall we ride, it is always a long way to April once we stop. Besides, it is way too early for the indoor trainer.  Yes, it will be cool in the morning requiring a gilet and arm warmers, most likely. But, there will be lots of sunshine. There is nothing like a Fall cycle in crisp air to accentuate the smells of autumn. I hope you can join us. Some of the regulars are out-of-town again this weekend but I’m hopeful of a good showing.

Okay, here’s the tentative plan for Saturday:

Meet at Stinsons at 8am 8am on White Lake road and ride to Carp via Conc 10, Pakenham, Hwy 29, Blakeney, Panmure Rd, Donold B Monroe, Craig, etc, for coffee with Alice, after 45 kms+/-; home via County Rd 5, Thomas Dolan, Stonecrest, Kinburn Sideroad, Loggers Way, etc. for a total distance of approx 90- 100 kms, depending upon the actual outward leg route. Maximum mileage s/b 98 kms.

The weather forecast is calling  for sunny skies and temperature in the single digits (early on), low teens later; winds E at 10.

Just a heads-up to new and old, these are ‘no-drop’ group rides. It’s steady as she goes (conversational style) and easy on the legs. If you have had thoughts of joining us and weren’t sure about the pace or the distance, then, here’s your chance. You’ll love it. We all do.

Just a reminder to subscribers that you will get an email alert of any last-minute notifications by 7am on ride-mornings. For non-subscribers, please check this blog before leaving home.

Okay, Ride your bike! Bye bye, ac. Comments always welcome at arnpriorcycling@bell.net; https://twitter.com/ArnpriorCycling

I saw her singing at her work,
And o’er the sickle bending;—
I listened, motionless and still;
And, as I mounted up the hill,
The music in my heart I bore,
Long after it was heard no more  (ww)

Behold her single in the field
