Hello there and welcome.

Well, it has been another good week for the bicycle. I hope you were able to take advantage of the weather. The high humidity has finally broken. The air is still warm and the winds have remained light. All in all, the elements have been favourable, making it easy to saddle-up without any thought of outerwear. Yes, Sloth is cheerless, preferring any and all impediments to motion. He is ever whispering. Stop-up your ears. Be vigilant. Ride your bike.

Here’s how on Saturday:

Meet at Stinsons at 8am 8am on White Lake road and ride to Renfrew via Russett, Mill Ridge, #508, Goshen,  Gillan to Opeongo to McNaughton, Butler, Pinnacle, Garden of Eden, Bruce St to the Bonnechere cafe for coffee after about 60 kms; home via Whitton, Lochwinnoch, etc. for a total distance of approx 93 kms.

Cloudy skies and temperature in the low teens C; winds NW & N at 15, providing conditions for a gnarly ride.

Okay, so that’s not looking great. Still, while the weather may lack some sparkle tomorrow, the route is peppered with spice in sections. Nothing too piquant for your taste, however; with only a short, sharp, climb on Pinnacle to draw your breath. The scenery is idyllic and the ride down Garden of Eden is truly heavenly. And, no, you won’t need your booties and leg warmers but a gilet and arm warmers might be the order of the day. Yes, I too hear Fall’s footsteps on the walkway but let’s not open the door until we hear the knock. Mind you, Sunday is another story. As of now, this may be a one-day-ride weekend. So, hedge your bets and ride on Saturday.

Just a reminder, these are ‘no-drop’ group rides. Saturday’s ride will be steady (conversational style) and easy on the legs. If you have had thoughts of joining us and weren’t sure about the pace or the distance, then, here’s your chance. You’ll love it. We all do.
