Hello there, and welcome to this blog and to this post about cycling the roads of Renfrew County. Perhaps, you are a regular reader or a casual reader or a google surfer. Doesn’t matter, really. I’m glad you’ve paid us a visit. The purpose of the blog is to get the word out about cycling in the Arnprior area and to facilitate the getting together for rides on the weekends of like-minded people. The Arnprior Mafia has been riding the roads in these parts since 1990 and we know them well. If you are local cyclist or a visiting cyclist, please get in touch at arnpriorcycling@bell.net. We would be pleased to recommend routes, to talk about cycling, and to have you join us.

The more we ride and the more cyclists on the road the better It’s in our best interests to promote cycling. The latest news states that as the number of cyclists on the road increases so does public (driver) awareness of cyclists. Eventually, it will become a virtuous circle. And, it can’t happen soon enough.

Okay, I’m back. Just can’t miss riding with friends. A big thanks to Mark for his Twitter feed last weekend. Well, the year is moving on. You can tell because the morning air is cooler and the sun is lower in the sky. Summer is now draining away like water over greens in a colander. Fortunately, this weekend’s weather holds promise of summer yet. Here’s the tentative plan:

Meet at Cdn Tyre Parking Lot – CDN Tyre Parking Lot at 8am 8am and ride to  for coffee at Starbucks for a total distance of 90kms +/-. Route will be a variation of our usual Rob’s route, except this time we will take Galetta to Cty Rd 5 to Kinburn Sd Rd to Stonecrest to Thomas Dolan to Marchurst to Murphy to 2nd Line to Old Carp Rd; home via Old Carp Rd, Carp, DBM, Diamondview, Kinburn Sd Rd, etc.

Weather cool to start but mid twenties and with some humidity later in the day; winds E & SE at 8.

Why don’t you come out and enjoy this great cycling weather. You know it just won’t last. Let’s wind down the season in style with just enough pace to make it interesting but not so much to diminish the pleasure of the ride. Just a reminder, these are ‘no-drop’ group rides. If you have had thoughts of joining us and weren’t sure about the pace or the distance, then, here’s your chance. You’ll love it.
