July 17/15: 100 Kms; 3.13 Hrs; 733 Metres; Eight Riders

Marvelous Marcel spun his magic this morning; and, no better evidence than on #132 where we rode a team time-trial (with a difference). Marcel stayed the course, steady as a rock up hill and down, keeping us under his protective wing like a mother hen with her brood. There were many such stretches on to-days’ route starting with Burnstown to Calabogie and then County Road 34/Norton to Whalen. You just can’t beat this rolling terrain to test the legs. First class all round. And then to top it off, we met Darth Vader and his alien friends at the Bonnechere Cafe. This was fitting given the space-time continuum worm warp-like dimension of our ride down #132. You just really should have been there.

Okay, what about Sunday? Well, every time I look at the forecast it gets worse. Let’s say we ride unless its raining and the pop is higher than 60% and the radar shows rain in our area. So, please check the weather network in the morning before you leave home. As of now, the pop for 8am is 60% and there is 1mm of rain forecasted for each of the first three hrs (8-11am). Let’s hope this changes. I plan to leave for Stinsons at 7:15 am unless it’s pouring. If you have any ideas for Sunday email me at arnpriorcycling@bell.net.

Here’s the tentative plan for Sunday:

Meet at Stinsons at 8 am 8 am and ride to Pakenham via Russett Dr to #508 to Burnstown to White Lake, Campbell Side Rd, Waba Rd to Pakenham General Sore for coffee and sweet buns; home via Kinburn Side Rd and Dwyer Hill, etc. for a total distance of 75 Kms. We will keep it short because of the unsettled weather. This is a plain jane circuit but is fun just the same.

Just a reminder, it’s steady as she goes. These are ‘no-drop’ group rides. Solo interval riding is for the week days. Weather 21 C+, with winds S at 15. High humidity.

It’s holiday time so some of the lads are out-of-town. Not sure who is about. Hope to see you.
