May 30/15: 108 Kms; 3 Hrs 35; 998 Metres; Seven Riders + AB!

Okay, that was an honest ride. Lots of climbing for these parts, right from the get-go. And the pace was manageable on the ups and downs on Pucker and Whalen. All good, even the  Secretariat-like speed and horsepower on Hwy 132. And, hey, we missed the rain (barely). You just should have been there.

What about tomorrow? Here is the tentative plan:

Meet at Stinsons at 8 am 8 am and ride to Burnstown via Conc 9, Waba Rd, Campbell SR, White Lake, Kippen, Creek Side to WL and then the main Rd to Burnstown for coffee at the Neat (inside) after about 35 Kms(?); home via McLaughlin, McLeod, Creek Side, White Lake Rd to Conc 8 to Waba Rd to Conc 10 to WL Rd to Stinsons. Did you follow all of that. Total distance approx 70 Km (70-80kms). Pace easy on the pedals. Some climbing (but easy on the pedals). This is a coffee, cake, and culture ride. That means no pedal to the metal.

Weather forecast is for low temperatures, N wind, and no threat of rain until the afternoon as of this writing. This will be a booty and knee warmer ride. Gloves probably but really you won’t need your long johns.

The good news is that there is a possibility of meeting up with Gregg at the Neat. The bad news is that he would prefer that we ride off the back or a couple 100 metres off the front. This is Gregg’s last weekend of riding in the Valley. He wants to arrive home safe-and-sound to strike up a new life in a new land.

from Fancy

O sweet Fancy! let her loose;
Every thing is spoilt by use:
Where ‘s the cheek that doth not fade,
Too much gazed at? Where ‘s the maid
Whose lip mature is ever new?
Where ‘s the eye, however blue,
Doth not weary? Where ‘s the face
One would meet in every place?
Where ‘s the voice, however soft,
One would hear so very oft?
At a touch sweet Pleasure melteth
Like to bubbles when rain pelteth. JKeats

Wildlife Watch (New Feature): two Snappers on Pucker St. I didn’t hear Keith say ‘duck’.

Okay, that’s it, except for my joke. Well, not mine really but you know what I mean. Apropos of tomorrow’s pace.

A turtle gets mugged by a gang of snails. Cop is interviewing the turtle afterwards, still at the scene. Turtle still flustered. Cop asks, “Just start at the beginning.” “I don’t know,” says the turtle. “It all happened so fast.”
