Hello and welcome to another post.

Wasn’t that a remarkable interview by Omar Khadr last evening? Shows the resilience of the human spirit. Inspiring. If you haven’t seen it, watch it here: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/omar-khadr-free-on-bail-vows-to-prove-he-is-a-good-person-1.3065692. I don’t want to get all political about this but Khadr’s demeanor last night was a clear refutation of Harper’s handling of this matter.

Okay, to more mundane events, here is the tentative plan for Saturday:

Meet at Stinsons at 7:30 am 7:30 am 7:30 am SHARP and ride to Mountain Chute via Burnstown and Calabogie. This is an out and back (hilly) route, with no coffee until the Neat Cafe in Burnstown, after 108 Kms. Total distance is 130 Kms. This is a long, hard ride but worth the effort from a training point of view. Weather is forecasted¬† to be hot and humid. We will ride rain or shine. Don’t let a sprinkle at the start hold you back. It will be warm enough to ride regardless. Pace should be much as it has been with the view to keeping us all as one. Seems to be working fine. Let’s keep it that way. Single file on #508. Safety is number one. I would prefer to keep the stops short (side of road that kind of thing). No stop at Mumford’s store. Keep on trucking, right. Bring gels, bars, figs, nuts – your choice.

In case you are wondering about Sunday, it’s Mother’s Day. We plan to ride nonetheless but most likely with reduced numbers. I’m thinking of Haley’s Station (100 kms) or Kanata Starbucks (100 kms) or Almonte via Tatlock (95 kms), depending upon the wind direction. Our next big ride is Saturday, May 16 (130 kms). The plan here is to have a couple of 230 kms weekends (May 9/10, 16/17) to be followed by a 270 km weekend (May 23/24); and, then, a 200 km weekend (May 30/June 01) before the RLCT weekend of 360 kms (June 06/07). You should adjust your weekday schedule accordingly.
