October 05/14: Nine Riders; 73 Kms; 2 Hrs 20; ___? Metres (computer issues to-day)

Well, if that was the last hurrah of the season, then it was a good one. There we were completely at home at the kitchen table at the back of the Pakenham General store sharing a coffee and some sticky buns and the warmth, and holding off just a bit from the ”two minutes”. Good times pass quickly enough.

And, who would have thought that we could have had so much fun dressed to the gills in full cycling kit of booties, tights, gloves, ear band, jersey, gilet, and undergarment. Did I miss anything. As Eric says, some of the best riding is this time of year. One just has to get out the door. Or, to quote Perry, ‘Just dress for it. What’s the problem?” Yes, it is hard to beat that crisp, clean air, and the brilliant colours and muted tones of the various trees highlighted spectacularly in the sunshine this time of year. One does feel alive in all the senses.

Right then, there will be no blog posts for a couple of weeks. Ride if you can. Ask someone to join you. It’s more fun. You won’t regret it. Share a coffee and a few laughs. Poke fun at each other. Talk about next year or that new bike – maybe; or new wheels; or your first pair of bibs. You should try them, if you haven’t. You won’t go back.

Okay, I’ll say it now. It has been another great season. You know, you just should have been there. Still, I’m glad you were there to share some, if not all the memories we’ve made. And, before you know it, Mark will be counting down to Spring, as in ”There are 166 days 2 hours 50 minutes, 00 secs to Spring.” And, someone else will say, ”only four training weekends to the RLCT. I know it comes up fast. Who will join us this year? Will you?

PS: After to-day, we will need a new definition of ”hell-bent-for-leather”.
