August 09/14: Six Riders; 135 Kms; 933 Metres!!!; 4 Hrs 31.

A bit late with this. Have had some computer issues. Had to reinstall the garmin plugin to get a proper elevation level. All good now, as was the ride this morning. I think that is the hardest ride we’ve had all year, certainly the one with the most cumulative elevation. Hey, even Marcel’s computer told him he had a personal best to-day. Can’t beat that. The pace was good, too. Marcel tapped out a steady rhythm, especially on the homeward leg. This was most appreciated by me because my legs were only capable at that  point of a certain effort. No problem, says Marcel. And, there was none, except for a shortage of water-stops. This new route up Pucker meant that we by-passed Mumford’s store in Calabogie on the outward trip. This left Kevin in dire straights. He cramped up big time and had to hit the shade for relief, just beyond Eagle’s Nest. He eventually turned around and headed back on his own. As for the rest of us, we were mostly out of liquid by the top of Mountian Chute. In an attempt to get water, Angelo called the damn-office but there was no answer. So, you can imagine how relieved we were to finally pull into Mumfords, some 18 kms later. And, the rest, as they say, is history. Recharged again, Marcel returned to the lead and brought us nicely to the Neat for a long-awaited coffee, some 113 kms into the ride. We would have liked to linger but there was still work to do, so off we pedaled, with one more hill to climb. By this time, every bump seemed like a hill but that didn’t hold us back much. You just know that the ride from Goshen Rd home via Russett was a hoot. You really just should have been there. And, you can on Sunday. here is the plan:

Meet at Stinsons at 8 am 8am and ride to Pakenham for coffee and sticky buns; home via Dwyer Hill, most likely. Sorry about the short description. I’m being called away for other duties at the minute. This will be a ride of 70 kms or so and the pace will definitely be down market. Hope to see a few more cyclists.
