July 12/14: Five Riders; 99 Kms; 3 Hrs 10; 269 Metres

Hello there.

We were a bit short on cyclists this morning, so it was nice to see a new rider, Ross, appear out of nowhere. Well, actually, he didn’t come out of nowhere exactly. He works with Raymond at Arnprior Aerospace.  And, what a ride it was for a first-timer. Thank goodness, the conditions were excellent and the elevation gain minimal; otherwise, how to account for the pace. There is just no stopping these guys once they get the bit between their teeth. It was great fun, as we shook up the routine this morning by riding a variation of our usual route. Nothing too radical but jut enough to keep it fresh. This allowed for a short but spirited sprint to the finish from Concession 10 at the rock-cut back to Canadian Tyre. Raymond and Perry and Marcel were out of sight in a few pedal strokes, leaving Ross and I to chase them down. We tried but didn’t catch them until they were caught flat-footed at the red lights in town. We flew past them as they tried to clip in. Too late. You just should have been there.

Okay, as of now, there will be no group ride on Sunday. There is a high chance of heavy rain and strong winds. If the forecast changes, I’ll be in touch.

Bye Bye, ac. Comments welcome at arnpriorcycling@bell.net; http://www.twitter.com/ArnpriorCycling

PS: No further word on the Wilno express as of this writing. Stay tuned!
