Hello, and a good Friday to you. The weather this spring has taken a long time to become spring. It has been the same tune  for a long time now, a slow march really towards a rousing crescendo, a bit like Ravel’s Bolero. When note by note it becomes something memorable. But, isn’t the weather just grand to-day?And, by all accounts, it should be for the next couple of days. I hope you can find the time to join us for a cycle tour on Saturday.

Here is the plan, one with lots of choice for everyone: it’s the MBM Tours from Almonte, starting at 8.30 – 10.00 am registration. There are four routes of varying distances. Take your choice.

My recommendation is the Grand Tour route of 100 Kms (https://www.facebook.com/events/642319805855450/?ref=5) from Almonte to Appleton to Clayton to Blakeney to Pakenham and beyond. There is some hard-pack road on this route beginning at Clayton for a few kilometres but it is nothing too imposing. This is a fun ride, not too difficult, with few hills; it’s scenic too and mostly on back country roads. You just know you’ll love it! The main coffee stop will be at the General store in Pakenham. There is also a stop at the Clayton Store for those interested. And, on a nice day, why not?

Venue: 30 Mill St Almonte (bottom of the town) at 8.30 for registration and riding by 8.45 am or so. Hey, I’m totally relaxed about this.

Route: Grand Tour 100 Kms (as described above); Cost $15 but you get a burger and beverage; Maps available at start

Pace: as suits yourself; Weather: 15 – 22 C, with light winds and partly cloudy
