August 05: 83 Kms; Saddle Time 3 Hrs 4 Mins; 410 Metres; 2609 Calories. Mark, Angelo, Eric. Total for the weekend 239 Kms.

Okay, so there wasn’t much interest in to-day’s recovery ride. Still, the four of us had a most pleasant meander on quite back roads in very good conditions — a high blue sky, moderate winds, and an early cool temperature that soon rose to a comfortable level. The pace was down-market and easy-going right from the start, with Mark and I drafting the entire distance behind Eric and Angelo, who were great sports in not pushing the pace. This was both good and necessary because It took me a while to get up to speed, about thirty kilometres to be exact. Once there, it was all systems go, albeit without physical stress. And, so, we arrived at the Neat Cafe relaxed and in high spirits. There was no urgency in our coffee this morning. This was a recovery ride, after all. So, we sat and chatted on the deck in the bower’s half shade and sun, luxuriating in the rising warmth of the air.  Life was sweet; life is sweet. You just should have been there! And, you can next weekend, when we will do it all again. Don’t miss it. You won’t regret it.

I was disappointed to find that there weren’t any new riders this morning. I have tried to get the word out on Twitter but the #hastag designation doesn’t always result in the tweet showing up on the #Arnprior and #McNab-Braeside accounts. Not sure why.

Okay, that’s it for now. ac Comments always welcome at arnpriorcycling@bell.net and Twitter at www.twitter.com/ArnpriorCycling.

She used to work in a diner
Never saw a woman look finer
I used to order just to watch
her float across the floor
