July 28: 75 Kms; 2 Hrs 21; 391 Metres; 2866 Calories. Perry, Keith, Kevin, Jarrod, Mark W.  Total Kms for the weekend 162.

Okay. We rode. The storm stayed where it was and it didn’t hurt a finger. No rain, no pain. ”Good call”, says Keith.

Overall, a fun ride, capped by a leisurely coffee at the Neat. Laid back and reluctant to get up from the table, we eventually moved on, having decided to extend the circuit, since the weather was clearly not an issue now. Keith took the lead and led us down #508 to Lundys Corners. You know, you can’t beat this stretch of road for an exhilarating ride when in tight formation, pedalling at speed, and travelling mostly downhill to Hwy 17. Beautiful.

Nice to see Jarrod back with us this morning. He is enjoying a weekend respite from the racing circuit. Fit and fast as ever and gentle, he rode easy until we turned on to Braeloch, where he easily shattered the pace-line and our illusions. One by one, we couldn’t hold the line, until even Keith (the last to be dropped) was winded by the effort. Now that is a rare event. Loved it. You just should have been there. And, you can next weekend. Stay tuned.

FYI, based upon a survey of the lads, many of you will be on holidays/away in August. Consequently, the last group ride in August will be the weekend of August 10 and 11. Group rides will resume after that in late August or September. Still, let’s make the most of the next two weekends. Stay fit, firm, fine–always.
