Okay, the MMBM Mississippi Mills Tour apparently had little interest for our group. No riders except for Perry and me. We hooked up with three fellows (in their forties) for the 100 km tour. It was a Ride! I made it round the circuit okay, had a hamburger and then had to cycle 37 kms back to Arnprior into the wind. Tough going. Didn’t need that and it has left me knackered.

As for Perry, he was in his element. He and a fellow named Steward shared the front quite a lot and contributed to the heavy pace, especially when going head-on into the wind. At another point, they both chased down a tractor, much to the farmer’s amusement. This little escapade took them several hundred metres up the road ahead of me. But, i caught up when the tractor had to slow down to turn into a field. You just should have been there. As for the route, it was of interest and it has me thinking that we might try the Bellamy Side Road from Clayton Village to Blakeney as part of a larger circuit some time. The hard-pack on Bellamy was no problem. Worth another go another time.

Okay, what about Sunday? The forecast is for showers and rain but not until mid-morning. How about a 7.30 am start from Stinsons down White Lake Rd to Concession 9, then up Waba Rd to White Lake to Burnstown for coffee at the Neat Cafe. Home via #508, etc. Total distance is about 60 kms, I think. Bring your rain coat. Hope to see somebody. It’s Father’s Day so the pace will be easy.  hc arnpriorcycling@bell.net
